We've arrived!
After a seven hour flight with no sleep we arrived at the Heathrow airport at 7:00 am. There were about 15 of us on the flight so we thought it might be cheaper and quicker to share taxis back to Regent's College where we have orientation at 1:00. Turns out that you can only fit three people with their luggage into a cab and it costs over 60GBP to get from the airport to the college. Soo we learned out the hard way that cabs are insanely expensive! haha When we got to the college they directed us to a different building and we took a rather long, sweaty walk with our luggage a couple of blocks before finding a map showing that the building we were supposed to be going to was actually just around the corner of the one we got dropped off at. Hauling 80 pounds of luggage around in the hot sun after not getting much sleep isn't the most fun way to start off a trip in London, but we managed :)
While we were waiting at Regent's College for our orientation, we went and explored the campus a little. It is GORGEOUS! The Queen's Rose Garden is right in the middle of campus and it is packed with thousands of colorful roses among other plants and ponds and elaborate iron gates and a beautiful statue/fountain. All of the buildings around are old, ivy-covered brick buildings with cast iron railings and old stack chimneys. Very pretty and romantic!
Even though it's been a long day I'm already loving the trip!
